Some of you may notice a great many posts missing from a pet who shall remain nameless.  Of course this pet has been the catalyst for today’s lesson and will be held up as a poor example today.  For the sake of protecting the horses he’s already let out of the barn we’ll leave his real name out of this and simply call him “Boob.”

Boob has had a bit of buyer’s remorse about all he’d shared and asked to have himself deleted from Slaveboard.  I spoke with the other admins and we agreed to remove him because frankly, he’s annoyed the hell out of Amberly with his bids for attention and while I’ve promised to remain friends with him, my patience is obviously also wearing a bit thin.  She just wants him gone from her IMs, and I agree, he lately strikes me as someone who is more interested in drama than submission.  We have removed him from this board so there is no further reason for him to contact us.

Now.. I must at this point enter a caveat for this precedent, which is to say, no future posters should expect the same courtesy of getting anything removed because you’ve made a pain in the ass of yourself.

You see, what Boob did was not only to be lazy about deleting his own damned posts if he was so worried about the things he’d revealed, he also asked to have posts removed after other people had commented on them, leaving future readers to wonder at what they were obviously missing.

In addition, removing him from the board also removed the threads he started and all the comments and thoughts of the people who had responded to those threads.

Two things happened here.  Boob, in his fervor of wanting to dive in the deep end, didn’t fully think about what he was doing.  Those words he posted have been removed, but there are archives and nothing he posted is truly ever gone.  This is, after all, the internet.  But what’s more, by asking us to remove all he’s submitted to the board, he stifled other people’s comments, making intelligent discussion and light hearted jokes and bonding go away.

We did it this time, because we want him to simply stop bothering us with his whining, and because when setting up the board, we hadn’t set any rules or guidelines for how such a situation would be handled.

We have now.. and here’s the rule:  If you regret what you post, it’s your own problem.  We will remove what we find offensive or that which we feel is not in compliance with our, or NiteFlirt’s Terms of Service.. but we will not help you because you said something you later regret.  We will simply block you and leave everything as is.

Oh… and Amberly will probably blackmail you.
